This is the first in my Seaside Chimneys series of sketches. I have a fascination for drawing telegraph poles and chimneys, parts of our surroundings that we unconsciously ignore in our daily lives. The way the cables direct the view around us and the variety in chimney design and shape make beautiful subjects to draw.
This view was directly outside a small window in the kitchen of the flat we had rented for a weeks holiday in St Ives. The seagull never seemed to move from it's nest the whole time we were there.
